According to veteran groups and government officials, some of the resting places, abroad and stateside, are not being treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. In fact, they claim the problem affects the graves of American soldiers from all past wars.
When people think of military or national cemeteries, Arlington National usually comes to mind, with its perfectly lined up headstones and well-cared for gravesites. Unfortunately, not all cemeteries are being held to the same standards.
An audit by the National Cemetery Administration of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs of all its 3.2 million gravesites, revealed issues such as misplaced headstones or unmarked gravesites at several sites it managed but concluded neglect to be more of an issue with smaller state, county, and private cemeteries that contain the graves of service members. Crumbling headstones, overgrown weeds, debris, vandalism, and theft were of most concern.
Mission statements – You can tell a lot about a company by its mission statement. Don’t have one? Now might be a good time to create one and post it here. A good mission statement tells you what drives a company to do what it does.
Company policies – Are there company policies that are particularly important to your business? Perhaps your unlimited paternity/maternity leave policy has endeared you to employees across the company. This is a good place to talk about that.
Executive profiles – A company is only as strong as its executive leadership. This is a good place to show off who’s occupying the corner offices. Write a nice bio about each executive that includes what they do, how long they’ve been at it, and what got them to where they are.
As a veteran and a member of America Legion Post 97, I have seen firsthand cemeteries within Pinal County of Veterans’ gravesites that are neglected with high weeds or worst covered up and in need of serious rehabilitation.
It is my mission to restore Veteran’s gravesites within Pinal County at no cost to the families of our fallen military members. My goal is to organize a group of local volunteers to clean up and decorate the graves of veterans within the area and the community will be invited to help.
